Phillip ("Phil") Doyce Hester (born April 30, 1955) is the senior Vice President of R&D at National Instruments.[1]

Earlier, he had worked as the CTO and Senior Vice President of semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD). Phillip Hester resigned from his position of chief technology officer at the company on 11/4/2008.

Hester grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and attended Richard King High School. Phil holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Hester spent 23 years at IBM, where he was the lead developer for the RS/6000.

He was also a co-founder, and CEO of Newisys, now a Sanmina-SCI Corporation.
